The Bible's word for hope is stronger than ours. We say "I hope so" when we mean "maybe." Scripture's hope is settled confidence — because it rests not on odds but on the character of God. These verses are worth memorizing for the days you need them.
Hope anchored in God
- For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.Psalm 71:5
- Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.Romans 15:13
- Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast.Hebrews 6:19
Hope that carries you through
- But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.Isaiah 40:31
- And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.Romans 5:3-4

Hope for what's ahead

Pray this
God of hope, when I can't see the way forward, remind me that you can. Anchor my soul in your promises and your unchanging character. Fill me with a joy and peace that don't depend on my circumstances. Amen.
