Some count over a hundred "fear not" moments in Scripture. But God never just tells us not to be afraid; he always gives a reason — usually himself. These verses put the reason back in front of you.
Because God is with you
- Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.Isaiah 41:10
- Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.Joshua 1:9
- The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?Psalm 27:1
When fear rises
- What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.Psalm 56:3
- I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.Psalm 34:4
- For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.2 Timothy 1:7
Perfect love casts out fear
- There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.1 John 4:18
- Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you... Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.John 14:27
- Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.Luke 12:32
Pray this
Lord, when I am afraid, I will trust in you. You have not given me a spirit of fear. Remind me that you are with me, that you are stronger than what I dread, and that your love has no room for fear in it. Amen.
